Nemina

Personality.

By ArtsofRenQ

A moderately unassuming doe, Nemina's wistful, ghostly aura tends to ward off strangers from veering to close to her, simply because she appears to be unsettling at a glance. Though she is perhaps a little atypical in her interactions, Nemina is not unkind nor particularly threatening in any manner. Where Clerics tend to try to move the ghosts of the haunted forest onward, Nemina takes it upon herself to communicate with them - especially with those who had deceased leaving their young behind. Arguably, these ghostly apparitions could easily be a manifestation of her own mind, but she does not seem perturbed either way.
Nemina moves with an airy elegance that spotlights both her unique appearance and her 'floaty' personality. Every step is careful and calculated and, even when she is not looking where she is going, she never seems to put a single hoof wrong. For the most part she is unbothered by others who might try to intimidate her, their antics flying straight between her ears, but knows better than to linger when danger might be around the next tree trunk.
She is not at all argumentative and purposefully avoids any form of conflict, finding such things trivial and unnecessary. When inescapable, however, she chooses to think deeply and word her thoughts carefully. Such a fact can also be applied to those she speaks to of whom she respects, as well as speaking considerately for the younger ears that she tends to keep company.

Appearance.

Tall for her sub-species, Nemina's height predominantly stems from her long legs and neck. She is lithe in physique, a natural for long sprints and agility, giving her a slight bolster in a chase situation. Her palette consists of soft, strawberry hues with an asymmetrical piebald accent. Periwinkle eyes are striking against her pallid facial markings; nose and inner ears a bright, soft pink, accentuated by her near-pink cloven hooves.

History.

Born far outside the territories, Nemina was raised in a familial herd, consisting only of her own kin. They were a non-confrontational, apprehensive herd that skittered with each whisper of danger upon the horizon. Ever moving, they did not stop in one place for longer than a half-moon, never outstaying their welcome, nor willing to discover what potential treats lay within each land.
As they strayed ever closer to Agartha territory, Nemina grew taller and stronger with each passing sunrise. Her mother raised her to be kind to all creatures, but to know when to remind others to not test the boundaries she had chosen to set for herself. Her father, on the other hand, taught her the meaning of strength and survival - quick legs made for a longer life but, when in a pinch, brute strength might just be the thin line between life and death itself.
On a particular crisp, cold morning, Nemina awoke from beneath the brush and emerged to find her family scattered. Vanished into the bitter winter, the only traces of their presence the distinct splattering of red upon tousled snow. The acrid tang of bear had filled her senses alongside the iron snap of blood, though she was not sure how she had not awoken from the commotion, nor been found and decimated herself - she thanked the stars that she had gone unnoticed that day. Venturing upon her lonesome, she came to an impasse between Agarthan and Elysium territories, lingering on which direction to traverse from there - North or South? Either would ultimately change the rest of her life. Even then she could scent the differing herds on the wind; their angst and impressions reaching her despite their distances. A distinct, gut feeling from each direction; South felt lighter, North, like a burden needing to be carried upon already weighted shoulders.

It was an Agarthan patrol that located her first, her soft appearance and the traumatised trembling of her limbs allowing her passage into their territory and, later, into their ranks.
As she followed the deer back to the central herd, however, she could not help but glance over her shoulder to what might have happened if she had been found by the other herd first, had she not been destroyed on sight. Stories of Elysium's ways morbidly fascinated her as the residents of Agarthan educated her on their histories and their split beliefs. Nemina found it utterly fascinating that a group of deer chose to fight their instincts, rather than to give into their instinctual flight responses.
Often, she grazes upon the knolls overlooking the Elysium herd, curiosity prickling at her skin. Despite her daydreaming, Nemina knows deep down in her very core, that fate had spun her onto the correct path. She would never be a fighter, even if her life depended upon it. Now, she occupies herself with the unparented young, hoping to tear a rift between herself and her wondering mind and to fill the aching need for purpose within the Herd itself.

| | | | Nemina can't quite wrap her head around this buck. He's somehow both stand-offish and endearing all at the same time. His disbelief in the Spirits is certainly something she will endeavour to resolve, even if it takes some convincing.
She always did like a challenge.
